A Brief History of Camarin Elementary School

Camarin Elementary School has a total land area of 5000 square meters.

Prior to the late 1940’s no public school existed in Camarin. Children of school age got their early schooling at Novaliches, Quezon City which is 7 kilometers from this place. School children spent long hours hiking in rough, dusty, and muddy roads just to reach the school because there was no better means of transportation at that time. The first school hours appeared in 1948. The school was constructed out of local materials supplied by the barrio folks. The school was erected in a half hectare lot made available by the late Mamerto dela Cruz.  Years later in 1955, the lot area was purchased by the government to serve as permanent location for Camarin Elementary School.

The early school was staffed by a handful of teachers serving a small enrolment. It was under the Division of Rizal. Teachers residing outside Camarin walked long distance to get to the school on time. Sometimes they rode in carabao drawn sledge provided free by farmers in the locality.

The first semi-permanent school building was erected in 1950’s. It was a single room structure built on a spot which now occupied by the present administration building. It was used until 1971. Afterwards, it was demolished to give way for the construction of the said administration building in 1974.

In 1960’s when enrolment increases, some classes were housed in rented houses. There were at least five annexes, namely Saludar Annex, Faustino Annex, Magallanes Annex, Del Rey Annex and La Sallete Annex.

During President Diosdado Macapagal’s administration, more buildings were added. At present, there are eight buildings housing thirty-seven classrooms and accommodating more or less 5,000 pupils.

In early years of the school it was only staffed by at least 18 teachers. At present, in the school year 2008-2009 there are 115 mentors. In 59 years of existence, the school was administered and supervised by the following school administrators namely:
